Over the last 2 years Covid has taken some of the learning gaps that students were already carrying and increased them significantly. Due to this, it is imperative that we address those foundational skill gaps so students can be successful in the standards that are currently be presented to them by their classroom teacher. As a Data Specialist to a very crowded K-6 school of over 800 students I am trying to make my small office space a mini classroom to pull small groups of students to fill some of the math foundational skills that our students are lacking.
This small work space for students and stools will allow me to turn my office into a place where I can work with small groups of students to fill some of those foundational skill gaps so students no longer carry them year after year.
