My Students

"The only way to learn mathematics is to do mathematics"- Paul Halmos As a special education teacher, my students each have different needs that I must help meet with the necessary tools. I try to find fun, interactive tools that encourage students to want to learn.

I teach Math to a wonderful bunch of 6th grade students.

Throughout the day, I teach students in Integrated Co-Teaching classrooms, as well as a self-contained classroom, with students that have Individualized Education Plans. As the transition to Junior High may be difficult, I want the students to have all the necessary skills to succeed. Each student this year has specific goals and the potential to meet them. Now I need to give them the tools to help them achieve their goals.

My Project

I am requesting a MarkerBoard Activity Table. This table will provide a way to encourage my students in enhancing their skills and learning ability. The table will be great for small group instruction, allowing me to show my students math examples directly on the table in front of them. Students will be able to do math computations right in front of their eyes! It's hard for students to share their work in their small, personal notebooks. Now they will be able to show the whole group! This will be particularly great for students with visual issues who cannot see the board and students that have sensory needs.

The MarkerBoard Activity will improve my small group instruction during Math.

Students will be able to jot down notes directly on the table to share with the group and I will be able to leave my students examples as they work through the day. I am always looking for new, interactive tools for my students to continue enjoying math. I think this will be the perfection addition to my classroom!
