My Students

At our school, I am lucky enough to teach a group of students who are bubbly and truly enjoy their specialist classes. I can see so many of them become quite excited when they walk into the art room. I see a number of them help each other out, whether it be with skills we are working on or trying to help with ideas. In some cases, I have even seen a few demonstrate leadership qualities in helping some students be able to sit and do what is asked of them.

The students are dedicated, creative, and fun, which is a perfect combination when teaching art class.

It is so amazing to work with such a large number of different personalities from many different grade levels as only specialists really get to experience. Seeing their creativity and excitement each day really is the best part of the job!

My Project

In art class, we are known for using many different supplies and papers, ranging from small sizes to some that are quite large. This year, however, things are a bit different in art classes around the country as many art classes are being done in ways where students cannot share supplies.

Considering that we are currently working in a virtual setting with plans to become hybrid, a sketchbook would help students in terms of organization as well as supplying them the basics to still be able to show their creative side.

We are also aware of the fact that not all of our students have the same materials. By supplying each student with a sketchbook, students will at least have the basics of what they need to create their masterpieces. This will allow for students to keep all of their projects in one place, not having to worry about losing or ruining their art.

Students in our classes are highly engaged in the arts as we are an Arts Integrated school. All of our specialist classes - Art, Dance, Music, Digital Literacy, and Gym - are connected to the literacy that students complete with their homeroom teachers. This not only encourages creativity but also allows for them to build upon skills learned when reading in class.

Please consider helping the deserving and talented students of our school with basic needs to still be able to learn and enjoy the arts.
