This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Every student, everyday, is college bound, no matter where they grow up! It is hard enough growing up in poverty and violence and my students deserve the materials they need in order to open the doors necessary to make their dreams a reality!
I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade emotionally disturbed students.
They have been put out of classrooms because they are labeled "BAD", and that is not the case. They want to learn just like any other student. Many are in foster care or have lived through a horrific trauma that has caused their behavior. They told me last week that they "want an education and to learn". I plan to give them just that and I need your help with the hands on learning materials to engage them in the learning process.
My Project
The resources that I am requesting will allow my students to learn in a differentiated learning environment. The activity tubs in math and science provided hands on learning. The interactive graphic organizers allow the students to work together. The create and make your own maps and landmarks allow them to think and see the information. One of my students told me that his other teacher never taught and that I am able to show him what he is learning. unfortunately my school is in an impoverished neighborhood and they do not have the means to buy materials.
I am asking for you to please give my students the opportunities they will need to go to college.
Allow them to be a part of the American Dream and become productive members of society because they are the future of this county.
