I teach some of the brightest students in my district. My students are being taught Biology, AP Biology and Zoology. They are hard working students who don't have access to a variety of resources and many come from low income families.
I teach students who go to a Title I school and students with various learning styles.
My students do not let their home challenges determine their success and each day I strive to let them know that they can and will do anything that they put their minds to.
My Project
We have an upcoming unit on Ecosystems and Biomes. In this unit students will learn about animal habitats, an energy flow from food webs, food chains, and energy pyramids. It is important for students to learn about different animal behaviors and habitats, to help understand the other organisms in the environment and to compare with their own. To help explain this to my students and provide them with a real world learning experience, I am requesting two tanks, dome lights, and a heating pad to house our classroom pets (baby ball python and baby bearded dragon).
Due to the pandemic, a lot of our students are not able to travel and experience a real zoological park.
The materials will help me to provide that experience for them.
