My Students

Our students come from hard-working families who don't always have a lot of money. They're good kids who want to learn! I'm proud to say that, despite our challenges, parents in other areas of our city send their children to us because they know we have a learning environment here.

We work hard at our school, and we know that learning must be enjoyable to be educational.

We get our hands on our learning every chance we get. It could be using Cheetos to dust 'pollen' from flower to flower, dancing out our anti-bullying rap, or forming an island out of play dough to demonstrate our landforms.

My Project

Remember last year when you got a headache trying to make your computer work for online learning? Now we're back in school (which is great!) but that headache continues, only now it's transferred to teachers. Second graders are pretty good at a lot of things but computer complications is not one of them.

Please give our students a chance to log in to our district applications without the hassle.

I've got some older tech that I've been using and updating...and updating...but it's pretty much on its last legs. In fact, every time I look the Chromebook warns me that it will no longer update.

Every day, just about, one of our devices (pardon my language) craps out for one reason or another. Yes, I have taught them how to restart, wait patiently, try to close and reopen a window, etc. But each kid only has the device for a limited time and for some that can take all 20 minutes and that device still doesn't work. Some kids have started to cross their fingers and rub a rabbit's foot when they get the computer. (Okay, that's not true, but I might soon!) We use the devices each day to learn with applications that target missing skills in Reading and Math.
