My Students

Donors Choose made my scholars very happy. Our very first project was funded in only a few hours. We will have our FIRST class set of novels within the next few weeks. This miracle of generosity has fostered a further urge to continue to build our classroom library.

My students are excited about reading.

However, our school is in an urban area that is highly impoverished. Parents of my scholars want to help build our class library, but many are struggling financially and do not have the funds to contribute. Scholars in my class deserve every advantage. They believe in themselves. In fact, due to the generosity of those who donated to our first project, they now know OTHERS believe in them too. This has inspired them to achieve. Please help my children reach their goal of adding a second class set of books to their library.

My Project

I am requesting 33 copies of the novel 'Because of Mr. Terupt' It is the story of seven very different 5th grade students and their teacher, Mr. Terupt, who knows how to make learning fun simultaneously keeping the students in line. A winter day accident changes everything ....

..A variety of skills can be taught utilizing this novel: Characterization, Plot, Solution, and Comparisons are just a few of the COMMON CORE skills that can be taught flawlessly.

My scholars will LOVE digging into this novel and dissecting the narrative elements. I believe in the power of reading which is why this project is so very important.
