My Students

In light of recent tragic events, my students bring about hope for a better future. While they hail from all over the globe, speak a multitude of different languages, and come from a wide array of economic situations, they work together in unity. Through playing in a band together, they learn the values of teamwork, tolerance, understanding, and loyalty. We see our wonderful diversity as an asset and a strength. I can only hope that they can carry this notion of setting aside differences to achieve unity in the future.

My students are energetic, determined, and love to share their musical gifts with the school and the local community.

They are truly a joy to behold.

My Project

Too many of my students are begging to play the euphonium...said no band director ever. Well, perhaps I am the exception! Between my three bands, I currently have 24 students studying the euphonium!! This is no small accomplishment since many of my sixth and seventh graders are small and take public transit to and from our school.

In band class students express their individuality through their instrument choice and this creates an amazing palette of diversity.

Many of my students choose large instruments, such as the tuba and euphonium. Since many of my students are reliant on public transit to travel to and from school, home practice is challenging for them. The plastic euphoniums have allowed many of my smaller students to fulfill their dreams of playing the instrument they love. Two more plastic euphoniums will help additional students express themselves with this amazing instrument!
