My Students

My students are just turning five. Currently, we are distance learning. The children are looking forward to school resuming in the fall. For many of them, this is their first experience in a school setting. Some of the students have special learning needs and many are learning English for the first time. The majority of their families live below the poverty line and rely on our free meal plan for their children's breakfast and lunch. We are a very diverse community, with over 20 languages spoken.

Our school is a high poverty, Title I school with high expectations for all.

Each day, we practice letters, phonics, and sight words. We study science and math. We incorporate technology through the use of iPad apps, and we learn beginning engineering concepts through the use of building blocks and other manipulatives. At the end of the school day, the children are so excited to see their parents and tell them all the things they did at school. The parents are very supportive and they enjoy spending time with their little ones, reading stories, and learning new things.

My Project

Please help me provide live instruction to my four year old students this fall! The computer that I have has no webcam or microphone. Last semester, I was able to borrow my son's; however, this semester he will need to use in for daily online college classes.

With a webcam and lights, my students will be able to see me as they attend daily lessons via Zoom.

The webcam has a built in microphone, so they will be able to hear me as well! They will be able to connect to their teacher as we listen to stories, practice numbers and counting, sing songs, learn about science and social studies topics, and much more. With the aide of the lights, the students will have a clear view of me and all the books and manipulatives I have to show them.
