Building ethnic gardens promotes environmental stewardship and multi-cultural understanding !

We live in multi-ethnic community but have little understanding of each other's culture. By growing and processing and eating foods of the world, we learn more about the uniqueness of each culture. By employing permaculture methods of farming that promote sustainability, we learn to be better environmental stewards.

Gardening tools will greatly help us, as we have none! Our community is high-need, in that there are few resources for our students. Many parents hold multiple jobs, or are unemployed. There is little money to spread around.

You will make it possible for us to create a garden right at school. Although we do have some tools, there aren't enough for each child to take an active role as a class. This purchase will be an important step to begin this project.
