My students need seat pockets to be able to keep folders, book baggies and pencils at their reach, so they can focus better and maximize their learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school offers dual language instruction to students who come from single homes families. Most of these families could be categorized as low- income. The seat bags that I am requesting would greatly help them to keep their notebooks, folders, and book baggies organized at their seats and tables. These seat bags will keep them engaged at their tables, and minimize distraction, so they will stay focused, and be more productive.
Since my school follows a rigorous writing and reading curriculum, my students need to be focused when they are working at their tables.
Having these seat bags right at their reach will help them to produce more work that is aligned with what our school and myself as their teacher expect from them.
My Project
The reading and writing curriculum that our school follows requires students to spend about 45 minutes reading during their independent time, and writing for at least another 30 minutes everyday. To be able to comply with this practices, students need to have several books and writing folders at their tables.
Having these seat pockets at their own seats will help my students to keep their materials that they need neatly organized and at their reach.
My students will maximize their reading and writing time because they won't have to get up and walk to the book shelf every time they need a different book to read. Since students read at their own reading level they need to keep their books in a large zip log bag. Having four or more book baggies and writing folders at each table takes a lot of space, and causes distraction to my students from doing and focusing in their own learning. This is the reason I am requesting seat pockets for my classroom.
