Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These items will make a key difference in the twenty-five lives I will be teaching this year. A big part of my teaching philosophy is communal growth and collaboration. The rug will instantaneously help with that purpose and is the item I most desperately need. I use a rug daily in all instruction, in morning meetings, and closing circles. It provides students authentic opportunity to engage in conversation and learn from one another.

All of these items truly will help foster a community of learners.

I have a vast library of diverse books that represent the students I teach and they need somewhere to go! In my room, I tend to provide windows and mirrors for students. I was students to be able to learn from different perspectives (windows) and see themselves (mirrors) in literacy.

The stools will help with my small group instruction and conferencing with students. The majority of my students will be English Language Learners; and so, more targeted small group will provide for more opportunities to grow and meet them where in all subject areas as they learn English.

The storage bins will provide a space for students to organize their student notebooks and things they will need daily access to. While I use community supply bins, students will have individual notebooks that they will access daily for reflections, responses, writing, and math. These will provide the perfect space for them to do so.
