Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Art is an essential part of every student's growth. It allows them to use their minds creatively and stretch their imaginations in a way that not only entertains them, but also challenges them, and sometimes even heals them.

My students are amazing, creative human beings who deserve the absolute best I can give them.

I want to make sure my classroom materials set them up for success. The storage containers, paper plates, muffin tins, reusable cups, and sponges will help with the distribution, organization, and cleanup of materials which will build efficiency and leave more time for instruction and creation. The stencils, construction paper, and permanent markers will be used throughout the year by all of my grades (prekindergarten through eighth) as staples for many drawing and painting projects. The bleeding tissue paper and solar-activated paper will help to introduce my budding artists to new forms of art and self-expression.

I'm particularly excited about the possibility of introducing cyanotype printing to my fifth through eighth-grade students (using solar-activated paper) as a way of showing them how we can use recycled materials and a little bit of sunlight to create stunning works of art.
