My Students

The energy and curiosity of my 4th grade students is amazing! During the past 18 months of the COVID pandemic, my students have missed opportunities to engage collaboratively with physical materials that challenge their thinking and abilities. They deserve the academic advantages and direct emotional support that peer collaboration and meaningful technology integration has to offer. They will take on any challenge involved with 21st-century learning skills. With a focus on the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Student Standards and the Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS), my students get to prepare for the future and make sense of the world around them.

My students are most engaged when they can be creative and convey their knowledge and understanding with technology.

They shine with these types of opportunities that showcase 21st-century learning skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, innovation, and critical thinking.

My Project

The LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime Set is the go-to STEAM learning tool for students. SPIKE Prime will continuously engage students through playful learning activities to think critically and solve complex problems, regardless of their learning level. It will be used by all students in the classroom weekly to develop socialization and critical thinking.

Multiple Nevada Academic Content Standards and Practice Standards are addressed through these types of activities.

Some examples include:

Computer Science - 4.AP.PD.1, 4.CS.HS.1, 4.DA.IM.1, P2.1-P2.4

Science - CCC-2, 3-5-ETS1-3

Mathematics - SMP #1, SMP #7, SMP #8
