Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager, active, curious, and imaginative hands-on learners. My students are engaged daily in a rigorous, integrated academic curriculum, which includes a high emphasis on STEM learning. Students live in high poverty, metropolitan city and attend a Title I school. Our inner-city school lacks funding to access supplemental learning materials.

My students show up to class daily and work diligently to overcome the many challenges they face living in the inner city.

My students enjoy working cooperatively and display great creativity. Parents continually seek the best possible educational opportunities for their child. Additionally, I believe children benefit from experiences that include discovery, exploration, awakening curiosity, and an appreciation of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

My Project

On the first day of school I'm expecting nervous yet excited bright eyed and bushy tailed students eager to begin learning. I would like to prepare my students for learning right from day one by providing them with the essential classroom supplies and tools they will need.

For example, folders are essential for students to carry their homework to and from school and to keep their work organized in class.

Pens, erasers, staplers, glue sticks, and markers will allow students to write creative essays and keep them organized. Also these supplies will help students produce collaborative posters, art work, and crafts. Students will use the Sticky Notes to take notes and annotate as they read informational text and literature. Further, students will use the pencil pouches and storage bins to organize all their materials and keep them readily accessible to use throughout the day as they engage in a variety of learning opportunities and tasks.

With these basic classroom supplies, my students will start the year with the essential tools for learning in an organized classroom. I am eager to return to school and see all my students smiling as they prepare their desks with their new school supplies.
