This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a middle/high school in the urban area of Maryland. We focus on educating our students to become great leaders and citizens. Students are celebrated for exhibiting our school's core values: integrity, scholarship, citizenship, perseverance, and sustainability.
My students learn best through real-world applications, hands-on activities, and authentic experiences.
They work super hard and they are eager to learn. I teach students with diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds. My students are in various grade levels, but they all thrive when they get to "do" science!
For the 2021-2022 school year, I am teaching AP Seminar, AP Research, and Independent Study: Science. STEM/STEAM hands-on activities, cross-curricular projects, and laboratory investigations help my students to learn and apply concepts.
Having experiences dealing with research in high school will better prepare them for their future college and career choices. AP Seminar and AP Research allow them to explore themes, develop and refine their reading and writing skills, earn college credit, and so much more. Independent Study: Science allows them to explore topics within science that are interesting to them. I am so excited to be teaching these courses!
My Project
The organization of materials is essential to the smooth running of a classroom. Students and staff need to know where items are located. They need to be able to safely retrieve and return items that they use.
These shelving units will help to keep our items organized!
They are heavy-duty, so they will help this year's classes as well as classes to come. There are several shelves and they are adjustable, allowing shelving to be placed at needed heights. The rack covers will be used with some existing mobile shelving units. Some items are used for a single unit of study. These rack covers will keep these items free from dust until they are needed again.
