My Students

All of my wonderful students benefit from additional support to achieve their learning goals and use technology to both access the curriculum and track individual progress. Our urban school community is amazing and we all work hard to foster a supportive learning environment for our students.

Given the financial constraints that our district faces, we are always looking for ways to ensure our students receive the access to the support materials and technology they need and deserve.

We believe our students deserve to have the same opportunities that those in more financially fortunate school districts have. It's our goal to do all that we can to provide this for them.

My Project

The bulk of this project is the cost to a secure computer charging station. Currently, we store our donated Chromebooks in a makeshift cabinet. I added a locking door and extension cord to charge our computers. However, this is not an efficient solution, as the cords get tangled, unplugged, and the lock is not very secure.

Donations to this project will secure and protect the valuable technology donations received by my classroom while streamlining the charging process so that the machines are ready to use whenever students need them.

A computer charging cart would allow me to secure our classroom Chromebooks while they charge, with additional charging bays for teachers in need of a secure place to charge their devices. In addition, the new storage cart would make it easier to share our classroom Chromebooks with other students who have no access to technology in their classrooms.

The smaller items are necessities such as printer ink, so students can print their final writing projects; wiggle seats that discreetly allow movement while sitting in regular classroom chairs; a talking calculator so students can both visualize and hear their equations when checking their work; and headphones and computer mice to allow them to navigate and access all that their computer has to offer.
