My Students

“We don’t have to be superstars or win championships…. All we have to do is learn to rise to every occasion, give our best effort, and make those around us better as we do it.” -John Wooden

As a former graduate of CGHS, I am proud of the learning environment and support for students.

The programs implemented in the last ten years has truly changed the culture. Lawn areas have been transformed into edible gardens, complete with an amphitheater and stage. Homework Lab and Small Learning Communities are in place to ensure no student progress or lack of progress is unseen. Clusters for juniors and seniors direct students pathways aiding in post secondary exploration. The possibilities for faculty and students are endless. I am proud to be part of this phenomenal school and community. CGHS is a very diverse school, students understand expectations and can thrive if open to opportunities provided.

My Project

As John Wooden once said, "Be most interested in finding the best way, not in having your own way." There is no better environment to learn the power of unity despite the varying personalities and abilities than on a team. Being part of the soccer program at CGHS is all about working together, creating new memories, and representing our school and our community as we compete. When the school day commences, each of the twenty girls step out onto the field leaving behind the pressure of the day to play. From practice to game day this equipment will be used daily. The abundance of cones and soccer balls will allow me to maximize the field by setting- up multiple drills thus more efficiently utilizing practice time. Teaching fundamental skills such as dribbling, various ball moves, passing and shooting techniques all require each player to have their own ball. With new equipment small sided games will be expanded into teaching players our system of play. In years past, the team has borrowed equipment from other teams, having their own equipment will be a privledge.

Team sports provide students the chance and experience to release the pressure of their lives through a healthy outlet.

Being on the Junior Varsity team is about developing fundamental skills, team and school culture, relationships, and more importantly having fun. Please consider contributing to our project as we look forward to our Fall 2016 season. Go Gauchos!
