Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am seeking support for consumable school supplies and craft materials for the 2025-2026 academic year. Next year, my class will grow from 15 to 34 students. While I am excited about the opportunity to support a larger group of learners, my current budget is insufficient to cover the essential materials required for daily hands-on learning activities.

As a teacher in a Title I school, I work with students who face significant challenges.

Despite these adversities, their resilience and curiosity inspire me every day. Unfortunately, budget cuts have resulted in fewer resources for interactive projects and creative learning opportunities that are so impactful for my students.

Hands-on learning is essential for student success. For example, students love drawing pictures that reflect their writing and the stories we read, helping them connect more deeply with the material. In our science unit on the solar system, students create models to understand the planets and their orbits. They also craft self-portraits at the beginning of the school year, which fosters a sense of identity and community. These projects make learning more engaging and memorable.

Research shows that when students create, explore, and experiment, they develop a deeper understanding of concepts, hone problem-solving skills, and become more engaged in their learning. These activities ignite their imagination, build confidence, and cultivate a love for learning.

By supporting this initiative, you will help replenish classroom supplies and ensure that all 34 of my students can continue to experience the joy and benefits of hands-on, creative learning. I sincerely appreciate any assistance you can provide—together, we can inspire them to reach their full potential.
