Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are incredibly unique in that they are learning two languages simultaneously. Half of my students are native Spanish speakers and thus are continuing to build their native language fluency while also learning English. The other half of my students are native English speakers who are your average 1st graders learning how to read and write in English while also learning a second language (Spanish). Students will spend one day learning all subjects (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies) in Spanish and then continuing their lessons the following day entirely in English.
