Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in an incredibly diverse suburban school district where there are over 50 languages spoken at home and many of our students qualify for the free or reduced lunch program because they are living at or below the poverty line. We strive as a school to inspire our students to be positive global citizens. Our school has over 50 clubs and activities with over 3500 students grades 9 - 12. We have 25 varsity sports and 5 academic varsity sports including our newest, the e-Sports Varsity Team, of which I am the head coach.

My Project

This project is to help support our new eSports team! Currently, we are putting together all of the money to get registered through the High School eSports League (HSEL), but we need additional support. This project would provide the school, and my eSports athletes, with Nintendo Switches, controllers, and the physical game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, that they would be using to compete against other schools. Where traditional high school sports have scouts and scholarships, my goal is to get students attention from collegiate squads and sponsors that they ordinarily wouldn't be able to get on their own in a blossoming, young industry. Your donation would help me set the foundation for my program that I can use to provide my students with an opportunity that my friends and I would've killed for in high school.
