Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students will be excited to learn a second language, Spanish, while they are in middle school. Many of them will be able to earn high school credit for this class while in Middle School. They come to a title I school and often do not have the funds from home to provide most of their classroom necessities.

I would like for the students to enter a classroom that excites them about their journey as they learn a foreign language.

It would excite the students to see a print rich environment in the new language. Through technology and posted visuals, the students will begin to incorporate and practice the new language.

My Project

These materials will enhance student learning and my ability to deliver quality lessons as it will allow me to more easily manipulate the computer to enhance the lessons.

The request for the workbooks will give students practice.

The school provides the textbook, however, workbooks are not in the school's budget. It is essential that students have the opportunity to practice what they learn in the classroom and from the textbook.

Students learning a new language need to experience a print-rich environment. I am requesting materials for bulletin boards as well as charts that students can use for everyday quick reference. I will use these as opportunities to practice and reinforce essential vocabulary as students learn a new language.

Additionally, as this school is in an inner-city neighborhood and students come from a diverse and mostly difficult environment, it is essential that they come to a positive, productive and welcoming classroom.
