This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Because of a local school shutting down the number of ESOL students at my school has almost doubled. The majority of these students' home language is Spanish.
State testing accomodations allow a word for word dictionary in the student's native language to be used during testing but being a Title I-funded school, we unfortunately don't have the funds for this.
These dictionaries will be kept at school for daily use. They are used by 3rd-5th graders.
The other materials (highlighters and dry erase markers) are going to be used to teach the students the most effective ways of using the dictionaries.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
