My Project

Hello everyone! I have approximately 50 (7th-12th grade) English Language Learners going in and out of my room every day. I have students from several countries: Dominican Republic, Ghana, DRC, Chad/C.A.R., Belgium, and Haiti (and many more). Each and every student is special and works hard every day. I love their passion for school, their stories, and the hope they bring with them. Even when they are struggling, they remain positive.

Last year, I noticed several of them standing up with their books, papers, and worksheets pressed against the wall.

They also love to use the podium and lay on the floor. When I asked why they prefer to stand while doing work, I got answers like "Students stand up in my country" or "We sit all day" or "I'm more comfortable standing". These students work so hard to learn the English language and their core subjects. We believe they deserve a space to feel comfortable and call their own. These tables will be a great step in that direction!
