Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a multicultural classroom setting in the Bronx, NY. Most of my students are English Language Learners. Currently I have 25 kindergarten students who are always trying to sit in the front row to see what is going on.

Nearly all (98 percent) of the student population in my school is eligible for free lunch.

Although some students are fortunate to have access to the latest technology, many do not have computers at home. These multicultural students rely on the classroom for their experiences with technology.

My Project

Most of my multicultural students are visual learners. Having an ELMO and an ELMO wireless Tablet has become very important to my class since we have a variety of languages, learning disabilities, and individual learning in one classroom. Since the Elmo Tablet is wireless, I will be able to move freely around the classroom to take a closer look at what my students are doing and engage them easily. I will also be able to interact with the entire class and individual students. My priority as a Second Language Educator is to give each student every opportunity to grow beyond everyone's expectations. Having an ELMO and an ELMO wireless Tablet in the classroom to work with will help us move towards that goal.

The ELMO document camera and the ELMO wireless Tablet will enhance my multicultural English Language Learners' listening, reading and speaking skills by sharing with their peers activities they are working on.
