Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our class has a steady hum of activity. I want my students to feel so caught up in learning that they are not even aware that learning is going on. To reach my diverse learners I draw upon strategies that promote active engagement so that all my students can participate to their fullest potential.

My Kindergarteners love learning, and why wouldn't they?

It's contagious! My young scholars are in a dual language program where all students are learning English and Spanish. My class is made up of English language learners and native English speakers. What I love about teaching dual language kindergarten is that the program fosters bilingualism, biliteracy, and high levels of academic achievement through instruction in two languages--50% of our day is English and 50% is Spanish.

Our students are also developing an awareness and appreciation of the diversity and uniqueness of individuals. As a school, we are 86% economically disadvantaged and most receive free or reduced price lunch.

My Project

This software license will allow me to create custom assessments particular to my students’ needs. I teach in a Dual Language class and I often have to create my own assessments in Spanish. This software will let me create custom assessments in Spanish, allow me to quickly assess my students, and provide me with detailed reports and analysis so I can deliver instruction that meets their needs. My students will feel motivated to meet their goals as they see their progress. This software program also creates parent letters to facilitate communication regarding the child’s progress and ways they can support at home.
