Our Exceptional Student Education department houses six classrooms of diverse, hard working students. Our students have an amazing love of science and learning that we match to the fullest every day. Our classrooms teach a total of 47 awesome students hwo love hands-on, active, and engaging projects that really get them thinking. They come to school each day ready to do their best and try new things in order to grow personally and academically. They inspire all of our staff to do their best every day.
All of our students, from those who are deaf or hard of hearing to those with developmental delays, need unique materials and experiences to really grasp the scale of what they learn in the classroom.
Each child in our program absolutely loves learning, although the best method can be very different for each student. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies including whole group, focus groups, technology aids, alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met at their unique level. In that vein, a hands-on field trip is exactly what they need to further their learning.
My Project
Hands-on experiences are imperative to teaching and helping students access and grasp the curriculum throughout the year. The flexibility of the experience will allow them to understand the various science concepts from the classroom at whatever level is best for them, as our students range from PreK to 5th grade.
Providing our entire ESE department with the ability to go on a science-themed field trip to Gatorland would improve the educational experience for all of our students.
With your help and support, I know we can provide our students with this wonderful educational experience at no cost to the families. Many of our students come from low income households, so it is our goal as a department to raise the funds that will allow all students to go on this trip, not just those who can afford it.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
