Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Someone one said that equality is leaving the door open for anyone who has the means to approach it; equity is ensuring there is a pathway to that door for those who need it. I agree that the difference between equity and equality is that equality is when everyone gets the same thing, and equity is when everyone gets the things they deserve. I will use these Apple iPads to continue to give my students with special needs access to the vast Special Education and overall educational library that Apple provides. By continuing to give my students with special needs this access, I am helping to remove barriers that impede their growth opportunities.

The expansion of previous tech projects through this one continues to help arm them with the resources necessary to help instill not only a philosophy, framework, and structure into a classroom and school community that encourages positive participation rather than defeatist attitudes but a believe that they too are worth it.

Social and academic education is there for the taking. They can garner this real-world education through project-based learning but we need to ensure that it continues to be relevant to them. Not just relevant to their cultural and social interests, but also the needs of their family and community. We can build on this by continuing to put the tech into their hands and ease their access to the curriculum and world, allowing them to overcome their physical and learning challenges.
