My Students

March 13, 2020, was the last day I was able to hug, high five, and give handshakes to my students. Never in a million years, I would have thought that would have been our last day in the classroom together this school year. I have no idea when I will be able to join with students in a classroom however our school year is not over yet.

My students and I have now commenced to distance learning.

We are actively engaged in learning all of the core curricular subjects of reading, writing, math, and social studies. I zoom with students in small groups daily to check-in for social and emotional wellness, review academic content, and participate in fun PE and art lessons as well. Although this was an unexpected circumstances I am dedicated and determined to keep students excited about learning. My students appear to be engaged and are excited to participate in this new journey.

My Project

My amazing scholars have been working hard completing the home assignments that I have given them using Class Dojo, YouTube, and Epic reading, However, they would benefit greatly from me having an iPad with sound and video capabilities to record video messages, reading passages, and demonstrating phonics and math lessons for them. This project will provide an Ipad so that I can use phenomenal tools to assist my students with their distance learning experiences. Digital storytelling apps and the book creator app are a couple I know will be incorporated in daily learning rotations

When we get the all-clear to return to school the pad will serve dual purposes.

I know school will have a blended learning schedule, both online and face to face learning. I will continue to use it for virtual lessons and In-class it will be used for digital storytelling, students will record, edit, and publish live videos. I will use it for whole group instruction to display educational videos via document reader and use various downloadable instructional tools that will benefit student instruction.
