My Students

The Bridge Builders are part of an urban/suburban community in Whitestone, New York. Our school serves approximately 600 students who come from a plethora of different backgrounds and home environments. As the maker space technology teacher, I have set forth many different project-based learning experiences for students based on their curriculum.

As the students are all engaged in some form of remote learning this year, access to reliable devices is crucial.

My goal this year is to ensure that all students are able to participate in remote and blended learning with their devices. One thing remains in common with all of my students - they are highly motivated and take ownership of their learning as problem solvers and critical thinkers.

My Project

We have been doing our very best to provide all students with the resources they need to learn remotely and have access to technology both at home and in the classroom. We were able to procure iPads for our students but were not able to fund cases for these devices. Without the cases, the students are unable to utilize the iPads to their full capability. The iPads are used for a variety of resources including i-Ready for personalized instruction, Epic for online literature and Zearn for engaging math instruction.

As we are required to engage our students in technology, it is so important that our classroom and school technology stays in good shape.

With no covers, they are much more likely to break or have their screens damaged traveling back and forth. Your support with this project will provide technology to hundreds of students.
