This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

How will the specific items you’re requesting make a difference in students' learning? The 5 TI-84 calculators and whiteboards will provide critical resources for our students to succeed in mathematics, both during and beyond the school day. The calculators will support students in after-school math tutoring, interventions, and in-class activities while also being available for off-campus use such as during the SAT, PSAT, and ACT exams.

Access to these tools ensures no student is limited by financial barriers, enabling them to practice complex calculations, improve their problem-solving skills, and prepare for life after high school.

The whiteboards will foster hands-on learning by helping students show their work, collaborate in workshops, and engage in peer-led quizzing, enhancing both comprehension and teamwork.

The goal of this project is to create a supportive environment where all students can excel in mathematics, regardless of their circumstances. By providing calculators and whiteboards, we aim to remove barriers to learning, foster academic confidence, and support HMSA’s schoolwide objective of enhancing math education through tutoring, interventions, and specialized instruction. These resources will also help prepare students for standardized tests and future academic challenges, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed.

Our students are hardworking, creative, and determined to achieve their goals, even when facing significant challenges. They bring a wealth of cultural diversity, unique perspectives, and a strong drive to succeed. Many of them balance academic responsibilities with personal and family commitments, yet they persevere with resilience and a commitment to their futures. This project is designed to honor their dedication by equipping them with the resources they need to reach their full potential.
