Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

To teach is to make a difference in the lives of today's' students and tomorrow's artists, architectures, and designers! My students are friendly, kind, caring, sweet, and so in love with being creative. They create their own sketchbooks with regular copy paper and personalize the front page with their own logo and simply adore that is is "theirs" and at the end of the year they take it home and add during the summer.

I grew up in this community and embrace my students love for their roots and their diligence and enthusiasm they exhibit in their art projects!

They are always ready to volunteer to aid with handing out materials, organizing the materials, and cleaning up. They are creative, dreamers, thinkers, inventors, builders and are a breath of fresh air as they share their process with their peers, help one another and adore "gallery time" as they give "glows" to their fellow students. I cannot wait for the new school with my budding architectures, engineers, designers, and inventors!

My Project

It is a sheer delight to see my precious students' smiles when they receive their own art portfolios from such wonderful donors. My art students take immediate ownership of their art folders by creating original artwork drawing their name into a personal logo design on the front cover. The students love being visionaries by being inspired by different font styles~ block lettering, 3-dimensional lettering or bubble lettering, and repeated lines into patterns. The creative interpretation and dynamic coloration make their individual art portfolios an expression of their individuality and style. They are very proud of their first piece of art on the cover and at the end of the semester, they are proud owners of their portfolio!
