My Students

My students impress me every day. They engage deeply as they strive to grow as readers, writers, and thinkers, no matter the challenges they face.

After being 100% virtual last year, we all look forward to returning to in-person learning for the 2021-22 school year.

My Project

My 11th-grade ELA students will begin this year with a unit exploring nature and how humans impact the environment. We'll study the Transcendentalists before moving into more contemporary poetry, short stories, and essays. I anticipate this will be an engaging unit for my readers!

I'd love to extend my students' passion for environmental issues by adding to my classroom library a selection of novels and nonfiction books that address nature and climate change.

They can pick up where we left off with Thoreau and Emerson, dig into some contemporary nonfiction, or even wander into fantasy/dystopian territory--anything to keep our future leaders reading!
