My students are currently embarking on an economics and entrepreneurship project! They have been learning about the fundamental concepts of economics, and exploring what they know about businesses. They have shared many examples of how they see money used in their lives, and talked about the businesses they frequent with their families.
Students are now starting to design their own businesses!
They are eager to create their own menus for restaurants, products to sell, or services to advertise. We are in the process of building a mini-marketplace in the classroom where students can create their businesses, and then act them out to learn about economics in a hands on way!
The materials in this project will give students a real-life view of businesses by using tools seen in everyday life. The scanner, cash registers, and card swipers will encourage the use of currency and money management. The cardstock will allow for advertising and decorations. The pots and pans, and ID cards will help students create roles within their businesses and bring them to life. These materials will bring a fantastic experience to our classroom!
