This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have been teaching fifth grade for many years. This year, my new assignment is a combination of 2nd and 3rd graders! Please help me provide enriching constitution lessons and resources that will engage both grade levels at the same time.

My students are highly motivated 2nd and 3rd graders.

I would love to provide them with rich resources through meaningful and engaging history lessons that can go beyond our district's out-dated text books. I teach at an inner city school where up-to-date resources are limited due to school's budget constraints. Our school is Title l where 100% of our students are on the federal free meal plan. Many of my students do not have resources at home. It is my hope to bring my students the resources they need to be scholars of the future.

My Project

The Time for Kids magazines of both grade levels will allow me to teach history lessons in very meaningful way. For example, the high interest reading materials will not only teach my students about current events provided in its monthly issues, but many lessons also connect learning topics of history, such as the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, Citizenship, and the Right to Vote in kids-friendly formats. While examining history both past and present, my students will also research related topics on the Time for Kids website. With the availability of the colored printer, the class will be able to print out research materials to share in class and at home. They will also get to synthesize their research of multiple sources from the website and be able to print out hard copies to share with each other via class presentations and bulletin displays.

The requested materials will allow me to provide meaningful history lessons to my students.

Your donation will help our youngsters understand the impact of our country's history, and in helping my students to become responsible and productive citizens of the future, they'll be informed of real-world happenings and thus, be responsible as they become our country's future!
