Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Currently, my classroom has a limited selection of books in Spanish, which restricts my students' opportunities to immerse themselves in their second language.

By acquiring a variety of engaging Spanish books, I can provide my students with the resources they need to improve their language skills, foster a love for reading, and enhance their cultural understanding.

The rotating bookshelf will serve as a vibrant centerpiece in our classroom, showcasing our new collection. This engaging display will encourage students to explore the books more frequently and promote independent reading. By making these books accessible, I aim to create an environment where students feel excited to learn and read in both languages.

Project Goals:

Expand Literacy Resources: Increase the number of Spanish books available to support reading development and comprehension in both languages.

Encourage Cultural Exploration: Provide students with stories that reflect their heritage and introduce them to diverse cultures, fostering a sense of pride and belonging.

Create an Inviting Reading Space: Use the rotating bookshelf to cultivate a dynamic reading environment that encourages exploration and discussion.

My students are an extraordinary group of eager learners, each bringing their unique backgrounds and experiences to the classroom. Many are bilingual, navigating both English and Spanish with enthusiasm. They are curious, creative, and passionate about discovering new stories that resonate with their lives. By enriching our classroom with more Spanish literature, I hope to empower them to deepen their connection to their language and culture while inspiring a lifelong love for reading.
