My students need 2 laptops to be able to help them improve in reading and math. They are ENL students performing below grade level with little opportunity at home for technology.
My students are hardworking children that come from impoverished homes. Many of them are the first of their families to be English language learners.
Our students come to school every day ready to learn and outdo what they have done the day before.
We set goals in each of the content areas which our students aim to achieve. This is not easy in a low income, Title I school, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the many challenges that our students face, they are always ready and excited to learn.
My Project
These laptops will allow my 32 emergent ENL students to improve their literacy and math skills by being able to go onto websites that help them at their particular deficit. My classroom currently has 32 students with 4 computers to use. It is impossible to have all students use technology throughout the week more than 1 time. Some students don’t get to use it at all because those that are the most deficient in English tend to use it more. Most cannot afford one of their own and are at the mercy of the public library. These 2 computers would be greatly beneficial to their educational needs.
