This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Students are struggling with reading comprehension nationwide. Please urge them to be more interested in reading.
Located in a state struggling to financially provide for the students.
Students are receiving little to no additional reading materials aside from their basal. Students are in need of reading materials that directly relate to them on weekly basis.
Weekly readers are designed to provide interesting and relevant information to students. The readers will increase the students worldly knowledge as well as vocabulary and comprehension skills. The readers will be used as whole class instruction once a week. Along with a discussion on each article, students will do cross-curricular assignments related to each article. The comprehension activity pack will be used in small group and individual instruction to address specific reading skills. This will provide a hands-on approach to spike the interest of those students not generally interested in reading. It will also provide reinforcement of skills.
Please strongly consider making a donation and impacting a child's life.
This will make students eager to read and learn about the world around them. Without reading a child will not succeed in school or within the world. Thank you for your support.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
