Help me give my students a means of expressing their creativity through the Lego Maker project. We have a center in our class and want to provide more choices. Please donate to our Lego Maker Center.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from diverse home structures and have individual learning needs. More than 50% are ELL students who will benefit from the auditory exposure through the KINDLES. Many this is the first time in school. Many of the students come from a single family home setting. Our school does everything possible to provide ample opportunity for learning. However, we do not have the funds to purchase Lego sets that would enhance the Lego center we already have. At this time there are limited pieces and not enough for each student to use and become creative.
My students this year look forward to using the Lego center an many do not have that opportunity at home.
So the exposure here will benefit their use of the imagination, creativity and allow them to be future explorers, engineers, designers and more. This will open the doors to the Makers in them.
My Project
Students will be able to use their imagination as they create scenes, vehicles and or solve problems through the use of the Lego center. Students will have their own Lego boards and every day they can add to their creativity/story line using the diverse pieces at the center. If the center is enhanced with these people figurines students will have choices as to what the character in their stoy board is doing or who they represent in society. They will also be able to demonstrate their social emotional status through the expression with Legos.
