This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The math literacy books will provide my students with engaging, age-appropriate materials that make learning math concepts more accessible and enjoyable. The books are designed to present mathematical ideas in a narrative form, helping students to understand and retain complex concepts through stories and real-world applications. By integrating literacy with math, students can enhance comprehension.
Stories and contextual examples help students understand abstract math concepts by relating them to familiar situations.
It also helps improve critical thinking. These books often present problems and scenarios that require students to think critically and apply math skills to find solutions. Lastly, math literacy books help support diverse learning styles. The integration of visual, auditory, and textual elements caters to various learning preferences, making math more accessible to all students.
The primary goals for this project are: to improve students' math skills by providing them with high-quality, engaging materials that reinforce classroom learning, foster a love for math, enhance literacy skills, and promote independent learning.
My students are special because they come from diverse backgrounds and bring unique perspectives and strengths to the classroom. They are curious learners who are eager to learn and explore new concepts, always asking questions and seeking to understand the world around them. They are diverse thinkers. They bring a wide range of experiences, and ways of thinking beyond the classroom, enriching the learning environment for everyone.
