Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students are second language learners, who are highly motivated. Some of them are recent immigrants, while others have been here between 2-5 years. They are not from an affluent background and their parents struggle to make ends meet.

Most of my students qualify for free or reduced rate lunch.

Some of them do not have access to the internet at home.

My students are working to achieve the "American dream.' Therefore, I would like to provide the tools necessary for my students to be able to compete in this technological world. With your assistance, I am positive that my students can achieve their goal of not just learning English but also becoming productive citizens of this great nation.

My Project

The laptops will become an integral part of instruction on a daily basis. Students will be able to access the internet easily. The internet has a plethora of information that will provide concrete examples for my second language learners. They will be able to not only do research for projects, but they will also be able to practice any skill that is being taught. A great ESL strategy is to provide pictures or real objects for the students. The internet will provide some instantly.

A color printer would definitely provide another well-needed tool in my classroom.

I have students who do not have access to technology at home. The printer will enable them to produce projects that they would otherwise not be able to produce. This would also enhance their self-esteem by knowing that they can also produce colorful projects just like their peers who are a bit more privileged

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase students' acquisition of a second language, but you will ultimately help to increase their overall academic achievement. You are also giving them the ability to compete in this technological world.
