Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom is filled with talented creators and thinkers who excel when given the opportunity to express themselves. These students produce artwork that resonates with their personal experiences and emotions. To support their artistic journeys, we aim to enhance our classroom with materials that will elevate their learning experience and creative growth.

The addition of a rolling utility cart will bring flexibility to our painting setup.

By transporting supplies between the studio and easel room, we can maintain consistent painting procedures across both spaces. This minimizes the time needed for learning new setups, allowing students to focus more on their creative process and ensuring a smoother transition between activities.

Floor cushions for flexible seating will provide a comfortable and adaptable space for students to work. This setup encourages students to find seating arrangements that best suit their creative process, fostering a sense of independence and ownership over their work.

We are excited to introduce sketchbooks and art portfolios into our classroom. Portfolios will serve as a dedicated space for archiving and reflecting on the work completed throughout the year. They will help students document their progress, celebrate their achievements, and critically assess their growth as artists.

Sketchbooks will allow students to work independently, exploring original ideas or engaging with scaffolded sketchbook prompts. This practice provides an opportunity to develop creative thinking skills and experiment with new concepts in a personal, judgment-free space.

Our goal is to create an environment where each student feels valued and inspired. By investing in these materials, we are not just providing supplies; we are creating a space where students can explore, reflect, and grow as artists, opening new avenues for creative expression.
