This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are wonderful, enthusiastic learners who are just beginning their educational journey. They are excited to learn and explore, and I am excited to lay a strong foundation for future learning. Our school is entering its second year, and we are growing quickly, so we need so much to help us continue our journey. Being in a low income area presents some challenges, but I know we will rise above them and make all of our supporters proud! I hope you will consider supporting my fantastic class and I as we embark on this exciting adventure.

My Project

I am asking for a garment rack that will be used to hold the coats we are collecting for students in need, which are being held in our care closet. The care closet was created via another DonorsChoose.org project. It is a place where students and their families can come and retrieve supplies such as soap, shampoo, and diapers when they are struggling through difficult financial times. On the garment rack, we will keep coats that we are collecting for next winter. I have also requested a couple of polo shirts and khaki pants. These are items of our school uniform. We are trying to build up a supply of uniform pieces for our students in need. The last item we requested are vinyl stickers to make our care closet look more inviting, so that our families feel welcome.

We have a number of students who are in foster care as well as some students in shelters.

We are a Title I school, which means the majority of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. This project means enhancing our care closet and providing additional comfort and support to our school community. When our students have their basic needs taken care of, they feel safe and free to learn. This care closet means the success of our hard-working students, which they so deserve.
