Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Something that has been immensely powerful in my classroom in the past has been group-based code reviews for constructive feedback and debugging as students design and build apps and websites. I teach AP computer science and an intro to programming course to seniors, all of which have hybrid schedules, with some of their learning happening remotely from one, to a couple of days a week. My laptop does not have enough pixel real estate to manage all of the platforms open across the spaces for zoom/google meet, code builder, education tools like Padlet, all while being able to monitor my students and their interaction in our chat space.

A large Samsung Display workstation will enable me to set up direct screencast support for code demos, promote student voice, and monitor my class to maximize interaction and engagement in my lessons that happen both virtually and in-person.

All of my students will benefit from access to this sharing and remote class management space as they design, build and debug apps, consider websites and animations built in different programming languages including JavaScript and HTML/CSS throughout the year! This will help students engage in ethical discussions around CS and consider AI implications and applications in systems.
