Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first year English teacher. My students range from 9th to 12th grade and are in the Mild/Moderate Special Education program. We do a range of reading and writing activities and then relate them to our lives. They are really great students and make these connections to past experiences and are learning how they can apply their skills to their future careers.

My Project

The tools on the wish list will make students feel more comfortable in their learning environment. Also the numerous books and magazines will help them in applying comprehension tools and increase their literacy accuracy.

For example, the magazines will help students make connections to their current events and strategize with their classmates how they can take action.

We can use the office materials to create a project and start a Pen Pal project to students in another state or even in another country! Another example is the furniture; it will help students feel comfortable and serve as sensory for them when they need an escape.
