Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a 4th grade bilingual class that has many different levels. My goal is for all the students to fall in love with books. Every morning we start off the day with a chant "Ready to Rock" and the students reply "Ready to Roll."

My students are English Language Learners.

Most of them are from the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Spanish is their native language. I teach at a Title I school where students need a lot of support. My school does a good job of representing and respecting the students culture. Most of my students are two or three levels behind. I work hard to meet the students needs and help them improve.

My Project

The listening center will be an integral part of my reading program. The students will work in the listening center to be exposed to higher level text. They will work on their reading comprehension and improving their vocabulary. The listening center will motivate struggling readers to enjoy reading and many different books in the classroom.

I am very grateful for the donations.

The listening center will have a great impact on my students' learning and will help them improve their reading level. It is difficult for some of my students to read grade level text. The listening center will allow these students to be exposed to grade level text.
