Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What a wonderful bunch! These students are energetic, lovable, enthusiastic and inquisitive. The energy my students exert every day in the classroom is worth bottling and spreading it over all the world. They make me want to come every day to work and they fill me with the optimism that, that day (like most) will be a successful one. Their need to master the English language motivates me on a daily base. My students face language challenges and being part of their excitement as they grow in the mastery of it is the most rewarding!

This rambunctious second grade class is fighting the odds.

Our school is situated in the mist of a challenging community, with high immigration. The neighborhood is affected largely by violence, drug abuse and opposition to the empowerment of our children, youth and the family structure. My students exhibit a sense of security and delight in learning. They are prideful in the assurance of knowing that knowledge is power! In turn, I have witnessed my students use the power of knowledge to impact those around them in a positive way.

My Project

Students in my class face the challenges of mastering the English language. Purchasing laptops for them means that my students will have access to endless ELL digital material. As a teacher, this means it will open more one on one time to target individual needs.

ELL digital material is of upmost importance in today's fast pace, multicultural world of education.

In turn, providing my class with these laptops will open doors to the acquisition of a new language that other wise would not be possible. An ElLL student's excitement and fulfillment as they grow, manage and develop their English language ability is priceless.
