My Project

My first graders are interested in everything and they love being busy! From drawing the leaves we see out the window to collecting unusual rocks on the playground, they are natural scientists and want to find ways to explore the world around them.

To nurture their curiosity, they need hands-on activities that will help them record their observations and experiment with the world around them.

With shape stencils, markers, and magnifying glasses they can more closely observe the leaves and rocks that they find outside and practice making detailed observations. Center activities like Legos and magnets will let them test out their ideas and get experience working together to solve problems. This project will help them feel fully engaged in their work as first grade scientists, engineers and mathematicians.
