My Students

The students and student-athletes I teach and coach travel from every New York City borough to attend class daily. Living here shares the same difficulties you see anywhere else: working long hours to make ends meet, paying bills, and putting (processed) meals on the table – only the average costs are higher. Going from place to place is not easy. Commutes can take up a significant part of the day. Yet this is the only way of life many of my students understand. So after a long bell schedule of challenging courses, my students deserve to unwind and participate in the joys that take them to a different place for a while.

That's where rugby enters.

As the City of New York struggles to meet the physical health needs of its students, I am one of the unseen forces working to ensure rugby has a chance to positively influence more lives. The time spent training in NYC and commuting to our homes shortly thereafter requires a lot of sacrifice from the rugby families involved. However, all the time, money, and energy invested demonstrates its value when our student-athletes are on the field representing something bigger than themselves.

My Project

The BTHS Rugby Football Club is a brand new, two-season high school rugby team with separate divisions for both boys and girls that compete against other schools/clubs in the D-III Metropolitan League of Rugby NY. This current project will complement the Rhino Rugby team kits and training equipment I have already purchased to keep this fast-growing club moving along. A fully funded project will provide team kits for two more, fully capped sevens rugby teams at the school -- a Boys B-side and a Girls A-side. The training equipment will allow the increasing number of both boys and girls rugby players attending practice to safely train for competition while developing their on-field rugby skills. We humbly thank all Fans of Rugby for helping support the boys and girls of Brooklyn Tech RFC.
