My Students

Robert Fulghum says, ""All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten." I believe my students will learn so much by explorative play during morning Create and Built time. I serve 14 students this year, and each student is different and comes knowing and experiencing different things. I have a group of ESE and Speech students that thrive in hands-on experiences.

This year, will be like no other.

These kids have experienced such life changing events and they just started kindergarten. We may be hindered in the things we can do but what we CAN do I want to do it well and I want school to be a place they find themselves learning while having fun.

My Project

Every morning I open my classroom door at 8am to allow time for my students to create and build. Their imaginations are hard at work working together with their peers to construct, engineer and build.

I would love to be able to offer more create and build activities, such as Brain Flakes, that do not come with step by step instructions on how to build things.

Rather they leave the building up to my students imagination.

Not only are my students actively engaged with each other during our morning create and build time they are also working on critical thinking skills, verbal communication with peers, applying mathematical practices and patience, especially when their creation fails and they have to start over.
